Thank you to all of you for supporting us with such passion and enthusiasm!

If you're going to be at SIIM this year, be sure to come by the Open Source Plugfest on Friday, June 5 from 8am-10am to see the latest ClearCanvas products!  It's an informal session where you can see various open source projects, ask questions, and if you bring your laptop, install the software. Of course, if you'd like to get together over coffee at another time during the conference, just let me know (norman AT clearcanvas DOT ca) and we'll set something up.  See you in Charlotte!

How are you using ClearCanvas products?  We want to hear from you in your own words!  Tell us your story about how ClearCanvas has made a difference where you are at our new ClearCanvas Stories Forum.

We are delighted to announce that on Jan 13, 2009, Canada's first open source RIS went live at Women's College Hospital in Toronto.  Complete with speech recognition from Nuance, the ClearCanvas RIS has processed 701 verified reports to date.  The go-live at WCH is the culmination of almost three years of hard work and represents the first phase of our large scale open source RIS/PACS deployment at JDMI.

This past Friday (Jan 16), we presented a paper at the International Conference on Health Informatics in Porto, Portugal entitled Commercial Open Source RIS/PACS--The ClearCanvas Experience.  We were part of a workshop on Open Source in European Healthcare. It was a great opportunity to hear about other open source healthcare informatics projects around the world, as well as offer our perspective on the subject.

After nothing less than a herculean effort, we are very proud to launch ClearCanvas 1.3!  This is a huge release for us, as it includes Workstation 1.3, ImageServer 1.3 and the long awaited RIS.  Be sure to download our new products, try a live demo of the integrated RIS/PACS client and let us know what you think!

RSNA 2008 is right around the corner, and this year, our friends at Calgary Scientific (South Building - Hall A: 3265) will be showcasing an integrated ClearCanvas/Calgary Scientific advanced visualization solution.  If you'd like to see a demo and/or would like to chat with us over coffee, please email me (norman AT clearcanvas DOT ca) and we can setup a time to meet. We'll be there from Sunday to Wednesday.  See you in Chicago!

Our hosting provider has informed us that they have scheduled a downtime for this weekend starting Sat Oct 11, 2008 at 10pm EDT and lasting for up to 24 hours, as they switch datacenters.  During this period, clearcanvas.ca will be down.  We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

The ClearCanvas Community Plugins repository is now up and running!  This is really exciting because it'll be the place where users and developers meet. Developers can share their latest innovations with a global community of users.  Users can download and try these plugins and provide feedback to the developers. We invite all of you, whether you're a user or developer, to check it out here.

With ClearCanvas Workstation and SDK 1.2 comes a powerful new feature:  The Clipboard.  The clipboard allows you to easily select images of interest and send them to a staging area where you can do something useful with them later.  We've added a couple of "something useful" clipboard tools to help demonstrate the potential of the clipboard, namely tools that allow you to export to image (JPG, PNG, etc.) and export to video (AVI).  Our hope is that with the help of the SDK, developers in the ClearCanvas community will be able to develop new clipboard tools, like key image saving, DICOM printing, etc.

Of course, the clipboard isn't all that's in 1.2.  Other features in this version include:

Thumbnails Study anonymization Ability to load (though not receive) DICOM JPEG and JPEG2000 images. Be sure to read more about it and download...
