ClearCanvas news and announcements.

Our founding partner, the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) at the University Health Network, Mount Sinai Hospital and Women's College Hospital has played a vital role in the development of our open source RIS/PACS.  Together, we have sought to really understand the needs of users to deliver a system that meets JDMI's demanding workflow requirements.  Read more about JDMI's RIS/PACS strategy here.

It's been a busy few months since our inaugural release of ClearCanvas ImageServer, but we're ready to go with a brand new version--0.95!  Perhaps the most noticeable feature of this new release is the massive overhaul of the web UI.  Check out the screenshots, and you'll know what we mean.  That said, be assured that 0.95 is not just about pretty web pages. We've been working hard on beefing up the core functionality of the product.  Here are a few of the new features you'll find in 0.95:

Created a new 64-bit installer. Added support for DICOM transfers in JPEG Baseline, JPEG Extended, JPEG Lossless, RLE, and JPEG2000. Added a new policy mechanism for dealing with duplicate images. For a full list of new features, click here. Be sure to download it, check out the updated user's guide,...

We're delighted to announce a new strategic alliance between ClearCanvas and Calgary Scientific.  Read more about it here.

After our 1.0 release of CC Workstation, we set out to see how much functionality we could add in 3 months time.  Quite a bit, it turns out!  Some 1.1 feature highlights include:

Reference lines Synchronized stacking Spatial locator Elliptical ROI Protractor Multiframe image support On the SDK side, we've made some improvements to the API, including providing the ability to render to an offscreen bitmap and the addition of a number of new graphics primitives.  We did have to make some breaking changes too (sorry!), but we hope it won't be too hard for you to update your plugins to use the new API.

Finally, we've also added online versions of our User's Guide and Developer's Guide.  They can be found on our new Documentation page.

Anyway, be sure to download...

We'll be at SIIM 2008 in Seattle from May 15-17 for the first ever Open Source Plug-Fest!  This promises to be a fun time, where various open source imaging informatics projects will be gathering together to show off their latest creations.  If you don't have time to see us at the Plug-Fest, but would like to meet up with us at another time during the conference, please e-mail me at norman AT clearcanvas DOT ca.  See you in Seattle!

We've had some sporadic reports of users having some difficulty registering on the site, with verification emails not being sent.  If this is you, we've authenticated you manually, so please try and login.  We've also switched mail servers, so hopefully this won't happen again.  However, if you do have problems registering, please e-mail us at webmaster AT clearcanvas DOT ca and let us know.

We're excited to announce the release of ClearCanvas ImageServer 0.90, our open source PACS server!  This is an important milestone because it represents another step in our drive towards an industrial strength, open source RIS/PACS. We've tried to make installation and configuration as straightforward as possible so you can get up and running right away. Be sure to download it, check out the user's manual, and tell us what you think.  We're really interested in hearing from you and any suggestions you may have!

We're thrilled to announce that ClearCanvas Workstation 1.0 has been officially released!  After a long beta period, the first official version of our DICOM PACS viewer is ready to go.  Be sure to read more about it, download it, try it out and tell us what you think.

The ClearCanvas developer community will be pleased to know that the inaugural version of the ClearCanvas SDK is now finally available!  We've invested a great deal of time trying to make it as easy to use as possible.  It comes complete with Visual Studio templates & wizards, a comprehensive Developer's Guide and a full API Reference.  And if that isn't quite enough for you, we also have a number of discussion forums to help you with your development related questions.  So try it out and let us know what you think!

We are very pleased to announce Planar, makers of specialty displays, as one of our new partners! We are delighted that they have successfully developed a plugin for ClearCanvas Workstation to drive their new 10/12 bit grayscale displays. If you're at RSNA this week, be sure to drop by Booth #2312 and see ClearCanvas Workstation on their new displays!
