The ClearCanvas developer community will be pleased to know that the inaugural version of the ClearCanvas SDK is now finally available! We've invested a great deal of time trying to make it as easy to use as possible. It comes complete with Visual Studio templates & wizards, a comprehensive Developer's Guide and a full API Reference. And if that isn't quite enough for you, we also have a number of discussion forums to help you with your development related questions. So try it out and let us know what you think!

If you connect to our SVN repository, please note that the URL has changed to https://clearcanvas-svn.cvsdude.com/source/Xian/Trunk/. Use the "Relocate" command in Tortoise SVN to point your working copy to the new URL. Also, our Trac URL is now: https://clearcanvas-trac.cvsdude.com/source. Our hosting service tells us that this should result in better performance. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Today was the first day of our first ever ClearCanvas Developers' Conference! ClearCanvas developers gave talks on topics ranging from how to write application components, to the essentials of the image viewer architecture. We also did some live coding examples. The highlight, I think was when the 7 participants, who came from various places in Canada and the U.S., did a show & tell, demonstrating some of the cool things they've done with the Framework.
We decided that this inaugural conference would be by invitation only, with people we've met before, just so we can work out the "bugs" before offering it publicly. If you're interested in attending a future CC DevCon (probably early in '08), just send me an e-mail: norman AT clearcanvas DOT ca.

Well, after 3 months, we've finally released 1.0 Beta 2! After downloading it, some of you may wonder what we've been doing all this time, since litte of the UI has changed and no new visible features have been added. Well, rest assured, we've been busy. In fact, we fixed 112 bugs! It's really important to us that we put out quality software, and so we want to fix as many bugs as possible before adding any new functionality. As with Beta 1, please let us know what your experience is, be it good or bad, by posting on our Beta Forum. Thanks!
P.S. To those who reported Beta 1 bugs, thanks for your help. We appreciate it!

After a year and a half of our old PHP site (which served us well!), we thought it was time for a makeover. But this makeover isn't merely cosmetic. We realized that if we really wanted to build a vibrant open source community, we had to improve our "public square" to make it easier for community members to gather. We've designed the site such that a single login will give you access to downloads, forums and mailing lists. We've consolidated the forums and mailing lists themselves, so that when you post to one, it shows up on the other. We've provided a list of resources for developers. And soon, we will introduce file repositories where users can share plugins and sample images with each other. In short, this is not just our site, but yours too. We hope you will find the improvements useful. If you have any problems with the site, please let us...

One of our partners, Sentinelle Medical, has done some great stuff on top of our Application Framework. They’ve completely overtaken the rendering with their own 3D engine and have customized the user interface to suit their own needs. Just an example of what can be done with the Framework. Be sure to check out their screenshots!
